Stoichiometric Lithium Niobate(SLN) Crystals and wafers
Since the ratio of niobium to lithium within the same-composition lithium niobate crystal (CLN) is 48.6/51.4, which deviates from the stoichiometric ratio, there are intrinsic defects of Li vacancies and Nb-occupied Li sites within the crystal, and it is an imperfect crystal. We used a lithium-rich cosolvent lift-off method to grow near stoichiometric lithium niobate, and in order to further improve the laser damage resistance threshold of SLN generally doped with 0.5-1.5 mol% MgO.
Advantages of SLN:
Lower polarisation reversal voltage (1/5 of CLN)
High thermal conductivity (20-50% higher compared to CLN & MgCLN)
Higher laser damage resistance threshold
Application Areas:
Periodically Polarised Devices
THz devices
